FUN ADVENTURE IN BALI

Enjoyable adventure in Bali

The beautiful island of Bali gave rise to beautiful images of a tropical paradise, and although it is quite compact it is the most popular tourist destination in Indonesia. Its appeal is drawn from many sources including the beautiful climate, beautiful beaches, unique culture, delicious food, and relatively low cost of living. Beach lovers can easily leave their entire stay just by enjoying the sunshine, sipping a cocktail from a coconut, and playing in the warm sea, but there is also much to offer for braver travelers …

Volcano Trekking

A two-hour hike to the top of the active volcano of Mount Batur to watch the sunrise is a very memorable experience, and your local guide can add to the fun by breaking and cooking eggs on lava-heated rocks – reminding you how active the volcano really is. This hike is quite easily accessible if you are well enough, and you are rewarded with a view of the sun rising above Bali’s highest mountain, Gunung Agung, while to the north you see some active and steaming cones. Registered guides must be members of the Mount Batur Trekking Guides Association, which has an office in the village of Toyo Bungkah where the journey begins.

Diving and snorkeling

The best time of year to snorkel and dive around Bali is from May to September, when the water tends to be clear and you can see live coral and tropical marine life in all its glory. In Tulamben, one of the most famous dive sites in Bali, you can even explore the sinking WWII ship – the wreck of the USS Liberty 120 meters long. On the far east coast of Bali there are also several large locations such as Candidasa and the nearby islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. For more experienced divers there are excellent sites around the rocky islands of Gili Kambing, Gili Biaha and Gili Mimpang.

White Water Rafting Bali

In the center of Bali, the cultural heart of the island, Ubud offers a good place for white water rafting outside the dry season. After exploring the historic sites and city temples, including some of the most beautiful on the island, you can head west to Sayan near the fertile Ayung canyon. The rafting operator will take you for a day at Class II and Class III rafting, which is not the most challenging in the world but is set against a very beautiful background.

Surfing

One of the most famous resorts on the island is Kuta, which was once a quiet fishing village but is now a popular backpacking spot, especially among Australian surfers. This village can be very busy and the waves are too crowded at some time of the year, so surfers can choose to go to quieter places elsewhere. With more than 30 surfing locations in Bali, once you chat with fellow surfers, you will immediately hear about favorites like Ulu Watu for more experienced surfers, and Padang Padang nearby.

These are just a few of the activities offered throughout Bali, and with a little research you can try para-sailing, elephant riding, jungle or paddy trekking, fishing, wakeboarding or water skiing.
